Community Participation
Contribute. Participate. Make TYPO3 better.
TYPO3 is the sum of its people — without community participation, the project wouldn’t be where it is today. There are many different ways to contribute to TYPO3, from code contributions to writing articles to answering new users’ questions. Spare the time you have, and increase your commitment as you see fit. No effort is too small — or too large.
Events: bringing the community together
Meaningful exchanges, learning, and development take place at TYPO3 Events, but they don’t plan themselves. Events—from international events like the General Assembly to smaller TYPO3 camps or meetups — need dedicated volunteers. Participate in the planning, execution, or infrastructure of events and help the TYPO3 community connect.
Ways to take part in events:
- Attend an event
- Give a talk or tutorial
- Organize an event
- Sponsor an event
- Talk about and promote events (even when you cannot attend)
- Join the Events team
Help and Support: Build out the TYPO3 knowledge base
If you have a problem, odds are someone else has had it, too. Participate in TYPO3 by posing your problem, answering others’ questions, and contributing to TYPO3’s extensive documentation. The next time someone has your issue, they can look up the solution.
Help and support other TYPO3 community members:
- Ask an unanswered question on Slack or StackOverflow
- Answer someone else’s question
- Write or edit TYPO3’s official documentation
- Join the Documentation team
Code: Contribute your technical skills
The more eyes on the TYPO3 Core and extensions, the better. Our extension architecture means that our most innovative solutions come from those who build with TYPO3 every day, and develop custom solutions for their problems. Learn the ins and outs of how TYPO3 works by participating in our software ecosystem.
Provide technical help:
- Install and configure TYPO3
- Write, publish, and maintain a custom extension
- Review and install others’ extensions
- File a bug report
- Join the Core Development team
- Participate in code sprints
Content, Writing, and Marketing: Educate others on TYPO3’s solutions
The more people know about TYPO3, the more they get on board. Content and marketing materials not only educate those new to TYPO3—they keep current community members up-to-date. For the non-technical, contributing to our content and marketing is a vital way of participating in the TYPO3 community.
Engage with us:
- Read or promote published community content
- Submit a content request
- Attend marketing sprints
- Respond to our polls and surveys
- Share market research and insights with the community
- Write or review a new piece of TYPO3 Content
- Join the Content or Marketing Teams
Donations and Membership: no amount is too small
TYPO3 is free to use, but not free to run. Our infrastructure and organizational costs are paid for by the community. If you want to help but don’t have a lot of time on your hands, or if you run your business on TYPO3, consider a financial contribution. Donate a sum or pay for a TYPO3 membership.
